In the history of studies, this bowl has always been assigned to the epigraphic corpus of Sarduri, son of Argišti, but both the object itself and the inscription on it appear peculiar. In the present article, the authors discuss a possible reinterpretation of the ribbed bowl, with important consequences also related to the beginning of the practice of writing the Urartian language in cuneiform script. Parmi les nombreuses coupes en bronze portant les noms de divers souverains urartéens trouvées en 1949 sur le site de Karmir-blur (Yerevan), il existe une coupe nervurée unique portant l’épigraphe d’un roi nommé Sarduri. Dans l’historiographie, cette coupe a toujours été rattachée au corpus épigraphique de Sarduri, fils d’Argišti, mais tant l’objet lui-même que l’inscription qu’il porte semblent particuliers. Dans le présent article, les auteurs discutent d’une possible réinterprétation de la coupe, avec des conséquences importantes liées au début de la pratique de l’écriture cunéiforme de la langue urartienne. |
