Abstract :
There has been surprisingly little detailed research on the relationship between the two main witnesses of Old Greek Ezekiel, LXX967 and LXXB, since the last publication of LXX967’s Ezekiel manuscript portions in the 1970s. In this study, the focus is on their differences in the three instructions for the prophet 40:4; 43:10-12, and 44:5-6a, which he received during a visionary temple tour. The importance of these instructions can hardly be overestimated since they are key to understanding the whole section Ezek 40-48. The analysis of the broad spectrum of variants will demonstrate that LXX967’s version of the three instructions is grosso modo closest to the original Greek translation, while the version represented by LXXB displays signs of an early revision.
