Document Details : Title: Solomon at Gibeon (1 Kgs 3,4-15; 2 Chr 1,2-13) Subtitle: What was the Chronicler's Source? Author(s): SEGEV, Yair Journal: Biblica Volume: 104 Issue: 3 Date: 2023 Pages: 329-349 DOI: 10.2143/BIB.104.3.3292416 Abstract : This article reexamines the relationship between the two accounts of the Gibeon Theophany (1 Kgs 3,4-15; 2 Chr 1,1-13). Recently, a growing number of scholars claim that the Chronicler used a different Vorlage, be that a lost source shared with Kings or a different version of the latter, with little to no Deuteronomistic elements. The current study proposes a novel approach to the problem, integrating literary and textual criteria and expanding the discussion to include other related texts in the Solomon narrative in Kings and Chronicles. |
