This article presents five letters from Jordanus to the Flemish physician Carolus Clusius (1526-1609), a famous botanist at the imperial court and the first chief doctor of the margravate of Moravia. The letters of 1574, 1575 and 1585 to Clusius provide a new insight into Jordanus’ scholarly network, including numerous contemporary scholars, his private life only a few months before his death, and his interest in botany, including experiments with sassafras oil. |
