Document Details : Title: Homosexual Individuals Subtitle: A Scotist Analysis and Proposal Author(s): LAWLER, Michael G. , SALZMAN, Todd A. Journal: Louvain Studies Volume: 45 Issue: 4 Date: 2022 Pages: 370-390 DOI: 10.2143/LS.45.4.3292263 Abstract : This essay follows the advice of Mary Beth Ingham to contemporary Catholic theologians to take a closer look at the intellectual legacy of medieval thinkers to discover principles to integrate the scientific with the religious. It looks at the different approaches of Thomas Aquinas and John Duns Scotus to the understanding of common natures and individuals and offers Scotus’ legacy as an alternative approach to theological ethical questions in general and to questions about the ethics of same-sex acts in particular. |
