This paper, on religious freedom, is his address to the 2022 convention of the Canadian Canon Law Society. He considers the topic in four parts: the public expression of religious faith and the threats to it in some parts of the world today; the social doctrine of the Catholic Church on freedom of religion, especially as enunciated in the Vatican II Declaration on Religious Freedom Dignitas humanae; religious freedom in international and regional treaties and in the Code of Canon Law; and the diplomacy of the Holy See in support of religious freedom. L’auteur est le Nonce apostolique au Canada. Ce document, qui porte sur la liberté religieuse, est le discours qu’il a prononcé en 2022 lors du Congrès de la Société canadienne de droit canonique. Il examine le sujet en quatre parties: l’expression publique de la foi religieuse et les menaces qui pèsent sur elle dans certaines parties du monde aujourd’hui; la doctrine sociale de l’Église catholique sur la liberté de religion, en particulier telle qu’elle est énoncée dans la Déclaration de Vatican II sur la liberté religieuse Dignitas humanae; la liberté religieuse dans les traités internationaux et régionaux et dans le Code de droit canonique; et la diplomatie du Saint-Siège à l’appui de la liberté religieuse. |
