Document Details : Title: Radiocarbon Dates from Iron Age Gordion are Confounded Author(s): KEENAN, Douglas J. Journal: Ancient West & East Volume: 3 Issue: 1 Date: 2004 Pages: 100-103 DOI: 10.2143/AWE.3.1.3291940 Abstract : Radiocarbon dates from Iron Age Gordion have been claimed to require a destruction date for the site that is at least a century earlier than the conventionally-accepted date. Herein, it is shown that the radiocarbon dates have severe problems, due to well-known atmospheric variations, and that these problems imply the claim is invalid. |
