Exhumé dans une fosse creusée au deuxième millénaire, et par conséquent hors-contexte, il représente un certain Hetephor accompagné d’une dame Hertekhy, probablement joueuse de sistre d’Hathor. Sa fonction initiale à Tell Sianu ne peut être établie mais il s’ajoute aux nombreux exemples de sculpture égyptienne du Moyen Empire trouvés au Levant et en Syrie. Publication of a little statuary group of the 13th Dynasty. It was discovered at Tell Sianu, south of Ugarit, in a hole digged at the second millenium BC, and then out of any archaeological context. It represents a man named Hetephor with a lady Hertekhy, probably sistrum player of the goddess Hathor. Its initial function at Tell Sianu remains unknown but it is to be added to the numerous examples of egyptian sculptures of the Middle Kingdom found in Levant and Syria. |
