Document Details : Title: Het geestelijke dagboek van Louis Dupré Author(s): VANHEESWIJCK, Guido Journal: Tijdschrift voor Filosofie Volume: 84 Issue: 4 Date: 2022 Pages: 705-719 DOI: 10.2143/TVF.84.4.3291534 Abstract : Louis Dupré’s spiritual diary, covering a period from July 1971 until November 2008, is a magnificent illustration of how a philosopher’s daily life is always interwoven with his main philosophical questions. One can recognize the particularity of Dupré’s philosophical interests in his myriad reflections, from those on small and important events to those on his experiences during his numerous journeys, on philosophical and literary texts, on films and concerts, on poets and painters, film directors and musical composers. Against that backdrop, Dupré’s diary, Een mens op weg: Dagboek, is an integral part of his life-long existential search for truth. In particular, this diary reflects Dupré’s evolution from a philosopher of religion to a philosopher of culture in his exploration of a possible ontological basis for the symbolic significance of religious language. |
