Document Details : Title: 'Superfluous Lines?' Subtitle: Minuses of OG Job in the Context of Alexandrian Scholarship Author(s): HÄBERLEIN, Maximilian Journal: Journal of Septuagint and Cognate Studies Volume: 55 Date: 2022 Pages: 31-42 DOI: 10.2143/JSCS.55.0.3291478 Abstract : The Old Greek of Job contains a large number of minuses compared to the MT consisting of a single line, especially in synonymous parallelisms. The phenomenon is described in two case studies and then discussed in the context of Homeric scholarship in Alexandria, where repetitive lines could be considered spurious. It is argued that the similar textual approach points to interaction between Jewish translators and textual scholars in Ptolemaic Alexandria. |
