Document Details : Title: La ponctuation samaritaine et le Pentateuque samaritain de Fribourg Author(s): HIMBAZA, Innocent Journal: Semitica Volume: 64 Date: 2022 Pages: 209-230 DOI: 10.2143/SE.64.0.3291274 Abstract : This article compares the list of punctuation signs of Samaritan manuscript F, folio 265r, with the lists of manuscripts R1 and P2. The lists are then compared with the text of those manuscripts. This study shows that the same names are used in the lists, they do not always designate the same signs. It also shows that the manuscript uses signs that are absent from the list, and that their use does not match the meaning of their names. Scribes thus had various interpretations of the same signs, and it is not possible to harmonize medieval Samaritan punctuation. An edition of the Samaritan Pentateuch featuring punctuation will therefore have to choose and follow one of the existing systems. |
