Document Details : Title: Opium for the Urartian Kings? Subtitle: Some Considerations on an Inscribed Object from Karmir-blur (CTU B 8-28) and on the ašiḫusi Building in Urartian Architecture Author(s): DAN, Roberto , BONFANTI, Annarita Stefania Journal: Ancient Near Eastern Studies Volume: 59 Date: 2022 Pages: 19-37 DOI: 10.2143/ANES.59.0.3291187 Abstract : This paper analyses a gold and silver lid found in Room 5 of the Karmir-blur fortress, engraved with an epigraph of the Urartian king Argišti, son of Minua. The object has never been the subject of a dedicated discussion: in this contribution, the authors examine its morphology, inscription and position within the fortress. Lastly, the identification of the building type mentioned in the inscription is revisited within the broader context of all references attested in Urartian epigraphy. |
