Document Details : Title: 'Je blaast woorden het weten in -' Subtitle: Cognitief-affectieve bevraging in Rozalie Hirs' poëzie Author(s): VAN PRAET, Helena Journal: Spiegel der Letteren Volume: 64 Issue: 2 Date: 2022 Pages: 155-178 DOI: 10.2143/SDL.64.2.3291066 Abstract : This article responds to a demand for methodological innovation in the study of Dutch-language poetry through an innovative focus on the embodied mind of the poetic subject in the oeuvre of the Dutch poet Rozalie Hirs. Firstly, the notion of a mode is mainly theorised on the basis of Werner Wolf’s cognitive prototype model. Next, the analysis shows how Hirs evokes an intuitive interrogation of ideas thanks to at least two techniques that activate an interplay between the lyric and conceptual mode, namely explorative streams of words and after-images. The article further develops the idea that, through these techniques, Hirs stimulates a poetics of delay, i.e. a sustained reflection on a concept in which the attribution of meaning is postponed by questioning the notion from an affective, embodied point of view. Future research should determine how these modes can be used as tools in other analyses of contemporary probing poetry. |
