Document Details : Title: One Day Like a Thousand Years (2 Pet 3,8) Author(s): CALLAN, Terrance Journal: Biblica Volume: 103 Issue: 2 Date: 2022 Pages: 269-286 DOI: 10.2143/BIB.103.2.3290915 Abstract : This essay traces the history of interpretation of Ps 90,4 by Jews and Christians, and of 2 Pet 3,8 by Christians. Most of the time these texts have not been understood as they were originally meant. Instead they have served as the basis of the idea that for God the word 'day' means a thousand human years. This idea has been used in various ways, most often to view the history of the world as consisting of one-thousand-year days corresponding to the days of creation. |
