Le hittite, comme d’autres langues indo-européennes, possède de nombreux noms de parties du corps, qui jusqu’à présent n’ont pas fait l’objet d’une étude systématique. Dans cet article, nous revenons sur les noms connus en hittite pour désigner la «tête». L’existence de synonymes constitue un problème fondamental. Les termes étudiés suscitent plusieurs questions, qui peuvent concerner l’identification des parties du corps, l’étymologie, la motivation et l’emploi métaphorique des termes. Body part terms are a very fecund field of study. Hittite, like other Indo-European languages, has many body part names, which have not been systematically studied so far. In this contribution, we shall return to the various Hittite words for the 'head'. The existence of synonyms is a fundamental problem. The terms raise several questions, which concern the identification of the body parts, their etymologies, motivations, and metaphorical uses. |
