Document Details : Title: Response of the Holy See to the Australian Royal Commission Final Report Author(s): DALY, Brendan Peter Journal: Studia Canonica Volume: 55 Issue: 1-2 Date: 2021 Pages: 245-274 DOI: 10.2143/STC.55.1.3290160 Abstract : The final report of the Australian Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse in 2017 commented on the lack of responsibility, transparency, and accountability within the Catholic Church’s practices and law. The Commissioners made twenty-one recommendations; the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference accepted all of them, except one concerning the seal of confession. The recommendations concerning universal law were forwarded to the Holy See, which responded on 26 February 2020. The author explains the origins of the recommendations and comments on the responses of the Holy See to each recommendation. Le rapport final de la Australian Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse en 2017 a commenté le manque de responsabilité, de transparence et d’obligation de rendre des comptes au sein des pratiques et du droit de l’Église catholique. Les commissaires ont formulé vingt et une recommandations; la Australian Conference of Catholic Bishops les a toutes acceptées, sauf une concernant le sceau de la confession. Les recommandations concernant le droit universel ont été transmises au Saint-Siège, qui a répondu le 26 février 2020. L’auteur explique les origines des recommandations et commente les réponses du Saint-Siège à chaque recommandation. |
