After a survey of the literature commenting this inscription, the reading by A. Jaussen and R. Savignac (1914) is adopted, but with a new interpretation. The onomastics and tribe name of the alleged creditor have parallels in Marginal Minaic and also in Central Minaic. The inscription is a debt recognition document, on a block probably originally inserted in the Wadd temple precinct. |
