Document Details : Title: Moving into the Ecumenical Future Author(s): CROSSIN, John W. Journal: Louvain Studies Volume: 44 Issue: 2 Date: 2021 Pages: 152-172 DOI: 10.2143/LS.44.2.3289494 Abstract : This forum article presents an optimistic view of the ecumenical future, based on the belief that the Holy Spirit continues guiding Christians toward Unity. This paper reviews recent ecumenical agreements and ecumenical literature. These show positive developments and remaining issues. They point to the vitality of the method of differentiated consensus found in the Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification and to the practical importance of a receptive ecumenism where Christian traditions share the Holy Spirit’s gifts with one another. The paper concludes with some personal reflections on context, clarity, and leadership for ecumenical progress. |
