Document Details : Title: Inscriptions en champlevé de Taymā' Author(s): ROCHE, Marie-Jeanne Journal: Semitica Volume: 62 Date: 2020 Pages: 163-205 DOI: 10.2143/SE.62.0.3288857 Abstract : A small series of eight Aramaeo-Nabataean inscriptions from Tayma are carved in high relief; they span from the Persian period to the late Nabataean period. They exhibit three different styles of 'champlevé', and the last six inscriptions have interlinear strips of various thickness. It is suggested that from the time of Nabonidus to the Roman period, foreign influences brought three main different techniques; these dedications were meant to be prestigious and thus imitated the bronze inscriptions. |
