Such a reduction is illustrated by a phenomenological description of the mubāhala of Medina, which is an important event in Islamic mytho-history. This description brings to light the generativity of this event as well as its bodily, linguistic, magical and testimonial dimensions. Such an intercultural phenomenology requires a constant back and forth movement between phenomenology and history within which the alien can be approached on its own terms. |
