Document Details : Title: Mutsaers en Cotázar Subtitle: Over cronopio's en andere komkommers Author(s): SPINETTE, Hadrien Journal: Spiegel der Letteren Volume: 62 Issue: 1 Date: 2020 Pages: 57-76 DOI: 10.2143/SDL.62.1.3287734 Abstract : Although Charlotte Mutsaers repeatedly portrays a literary family through her work and often integrates text fragments of those authors in her essays, the real textual modalities of those appropriations appear to have been toned down in previous research. This paper studies comparatively the literary filiation with the Argentine author Julio Cortázar she openly discusses in Paardejam (1996), from the perspective of the ‘elected tribe’ as described by Dominique Maingueneau (1993). Mutsaers appropriates the work of Cortázar in one particular essay by implicitly modifying the original texts to integrate them better in her book and to adjust them to her poetical views. Therefore, this paper aims to describe the manner in which she brings coherence to both texts of Cortázar Historias de cronopios y de famas (1962) and La vuelta al día en ochenta mundos (1967), the texts and her own essay, and the essay and her overall work. |
