Document Details : Title: The Major Projects of Moral Theology since 1968 Author(s): THOMASSET, Alain Journal: Louvain Studies Volume: 42 Issue: 4 Date: 2019 Pages: 433-452 DOI: 10.2143/LS.42.4.3287167 Abstract : Since 1968, moral theology has experienced several debates that indicate as many places of research and work for the renewal of this discipline according to the spirit and desire of the Second Vatican Council. After a brief historical excursus about the post-Council debates (autonomous morality and the ethics of faith; liberals and communitarians; the nature and morality of human acts, Pope Francis’ turn), this article explores four main fields of research. 1. The question of the relationship between law, conscience and truth, the evaluation of the moral act, and the question of natural law. 2. The place and use of the Bible. 3. The renewal of virtue ethics. 4. The link between morality and spirituality. |
