The analysis focuses on the speech Abu Yahya, the Saracen king of Mallorca, held in front of his people when the Christian attack was imminent. Marsili’s magnificent and pathetic amplificatio of the few sentences included of the Catalan original (LF §79) testifies to his originality and literary sensibility, as well as to the great care he took to magnify the events reported. |
