Document Details : Title: Téléprésence, conscience d'image, «temps réel» Subtitle: Analyse intentionnelle de la présence médiée Author(s): GARIBALDI, Gaëlle , DECLERCK, Gunnar , LENAY, Charles Journal: Etudes phénoménologiques - Phenomenological Studies Volume: 4 Date: 2020 Pages: 145-172 DOI: 10.2143/EPH.4.0.3286915 Abstract : While the development of connected and «connecting» technologies is increasingly based on real-time and instantaneous reactions and interactions, the concept of presence seems to be in need of a new questioning and requires a definition that takes into account the transformation of what it means for an experience to be of what is present and absent. Many technical developments, such as the telephone, videoconferencing, and more recently virtual reality systems, make it possible to feel as if we were directly in the presence of people who are not there in the flesh, although the interactions are in «real time». Is it then image consciousness, illusion, or perception? New specific types of intentions are at play in the complexification of the relations between the various intuitive presentifications, raising new questions about the distinctions proposed by Husserl and the phenomenological tradition. Answering these questions includes thinking about how the possibilities of filling the experiences’ horizons, how the modes of enaction are transformed, constrained and opened by technologies, and what the stakes and consequences are. I will try to explain the role played by temporality and show how the status of «seeing-in» evolves with the interactive technical mediations of a presence in real time. |
