Journal: Byzantion Volume: 88 Date: 2018 Pages: 187-217 DOI: 10.2143/BYZ.88.0.3285450 Abstract : The paper focuses on O cunto mô Sopo, an orally transmitted version of the Life of Aesop (2nd century) found in the Greek speaking area of Southern Apulia (Italy). It analizes the structure of the tale and makes a comparison with its Greek archetype. The conclusion contains some remarks on the possible dependency of the oral version on a written Greek version of the Life of Aesop. |
