Document Details : Title: Time and the 'Truth of Being' in Heidegger Author(s): SEOL, Min Journal: Tijdschrift voor Filosofie Volume: 80 Issue: 2 Date: 2018 Pages: 265-288 DOI: 10.2143/TVF.80.2.3285302 Abstract : Heidegger’s early project of fundamental ontology sought the ‘sense’ of Being upon which any way of Being can be understood. The project aimed to interpret this as the temporal horizon of Dasein. First, I argue that from the 1930s onwards, he gradually came to recognize that the matter sought in his question of Being was not something that could be thought of in terms of the horizon of understanding, but a phenomenon that manifests itself beyond that horizon, and that due to this ‘beyond’ character, it simultaneously conceals itself. Heidegger no longer called it the sense of Being because it was no longer something to be reached by understanding. He called it the 'truth of Being'. Second, I demonstrate how the priority of Dasein’s temporality, which is ascertained in Being and Time, should be modified. It is now incorporated into the 'truth of Being'. |
