This peculiarity is read in the light of a more ancient liturgical theology, based on typology and well attested in the catechesis of Theodore of Mopsuestia, but later substituted by a more common theology based on the epiclesis and consecration. The author conjectures that the Armenian antiphon may be a trace of the typological perspective, surviving inside a liturgical framework that is altered now. |
