Document Details : Title: Un cas insolite d'allographie Subtitle: La litanie diaconale grecque en écriture syriaque sogdienne du ms. Leiden Oriental 14236 Author(s): GÉHIN, Paul Journal: Le Muséon Volume: 130 Issue: 3-4 Date: 2017 Pages: 279-299 DOI: 10.2143/MUS.130.3.3259742 Abstract : This paper presents a unique case of allography: a Greek diaconal litany transcribed in Sogdian Syriac script. The Litany, which belongs to the Liturgy of Saint James, was added to a blank space in the Syriac Psalter Leiden, University Library, Oriental 14236. After having presented the manuscript which contains it and studied the system of transliteration of Greek, we give a complete transcription of the text and a commented translation. The study of the historical context suggests that it was used in a Melkite (Chalcedonian) community in Central Asia, towards the end of the 10th century or in the 11th century. |
