Document Details : Title: Remarques sur la parole chez Johann Georg Hamann Author(s): CAMILLERI, Sylvain Journal: Studies in Spirituality Volume: 27 Date: 2017 Pages: 181-194 DOI: 10.2143/SIS.27.0.3254102 Abstract : From the beginning on Hamann’s oeuvre has been called uncategorisable, confusing and chaotic. No wonder, then, that many thinkers have been led to disregard it and to neglect its speculative potential. This article sets itself the task to reverse the trend and to access this oeuvre by following a peculiar thread, that is the notion of ‘word’ in the multifold meanings it had for the Magus of the North. We shall see how this notion is key to understanding the true nature of Hamann’s project, which is first and foremost genuinely Christian. Consequently we shall also develop a Heidegger-inspired interpretation of the ‘word’ in Hamann in order to set forth its ‘destinal’ significance against any reductive and misleading interpretation through the lens of the mere philosophy of language. |
