Document Details : Title: Elohim, the Elohist and the Theory of Progressive revelation Author(s): HONG, Koog P. Journal: Biblica Volume: 98 Issue: 3 Date: 2017 Pages: 321-338 DOI: 10.2143/BIB.98.3.3245510 Abstract : Source critics have long maintained that the theory of progressive revelation holds the key for the non-use of YHWH in P and E. Yet the core features of this theory are rooted in P, and they appear to be projected onto E. This finding opens up an opportunity to narrow the gap between the Pentateuch and other parts of the Hebrew Bible regarding their use of ELOHIM by viewing this usage as a potential sign of relatively late origin, in line with the generally late ELOHIM phenomenon. |
