The two fragments presented are of an Old Nubian version of the Martyrdom of Saint Epimachus of Pelusium. A third fragment, displaying the page number 38 and 39 and coming from the same codex, was discovered in the course of the Polish excavations at Faras in Sudanese Nubia between 1961 and 1964. The provenance of the present two leaves is not known, but the Coptic Museum has included them amongst its holdings from Qasr Ibrîm. |
