Document Details : Title: La maculazione redentrice. Subtitle: Uno studio sull' Evangelium Aegyptiorum Author(s): ALBRILE, Ezio Journal: Le Muséon Volume: 115 Issue: 1-2 Date: 2002 Pages: 57-68 DOI: 10.2143/MUS.115.1.322 Abstract : The figure dominating the Judeo-Iranian gnosticism is that of Seth: the origin of its myth may be found in two Jewish legends handed down in the Judeo-Christian literature (Apocalyptics, rabbinic traditions, pseudoclementine). In the first is Cain the son of the satanic snake that seduced Eve, while in the second 'the son of God' mentioned in Genesis 6,2 is identified (following the enochic tradition) with the fallen angels or the sons of Seth, who seduced the sons of men, namely the maidens of Cain's kin. This and other stories on Adam an Eve in the Egyptian apocryphic texts are studied in this article. |
