Document Details : Title: Le motif de l'endurcissement (Is 6;9-10) et la lecture d'«Isaïe» Author(s): SONNET, Jean-Pierre Journal: Biblica Volume: 73 Issue: 2 Date: 1992 Pages: 208-239 DOI: 10.2143/BIB.73.2.3215012 Abstract : Implementing an exegetical approach while borrowing as well from linguistic and literary theories, this study seeks to identify the motif of hardening in Isa 6,9-11 within two acts of communication: the act that motivated Isaiah's writing of his 'memorial' and the act that, using the material of Isa 6, underlies the shaping of the book of Isaiah into its final form. In the first case, a particular addressee – the circle of court sages – is the target of a prophetic text using ironically generic resources of wisdom literature. In the second case, the act of communication aims at the reader of the book, and warns him against any self-assured understanding of the prophetic message. No less than the original addressee, the reader of the book is not only an interpreter (a third party) but also the recipient of the 'frontal' address by the 'prophetic voice'. |
