This paper explores the connection of the petuḥah and setumah divisions in the Masoretic tradition with the different arrangement of pericopae in MT and LXX as well as the insertion of literary units in either text. 2. Readings of the OL in Kings witnessing a pre-Lucianic text have a special value in order to reconstruct the Old Greek text and its Hebrew Vorlage, particularly in the junctures between pericopes or at the initial and final points of an interpolation where significant textual variants mostly occur. 3. The Antiochean/Old Greek reading καὶ εἷπεν Οὐ δυνήσῃ, καὶ εἷπεν Ἐν σοί (1 Kgs 22:20) qualified as 'an exception' or as 'corrupt' preserves the text of the dialogue of Yahweh and the spirit of deceit in a striking form free of the censure suffered by the MT. |
