Document Details : Title: De kwetsbaarheid van het lichaam Subtitle: Feministisch-theologische reflecties over lichamelijkheid en voortplantingsgeneeskunde Author(s): DILLEN, Annemie Journal: Tijdschrift voor Theologie Volume: 47 Issue: 2 Date: 2007 Pages: 155-172 DOI: 10.2143/TVT.47.2.3203522 Abstract : This article depicts experience with reproductive medicine, especially in vitro fertilisation, preimplantation genetic diagnostic procedures and prenatal diagnosis, as challenges for theology. The author discusses whether a feminist-inspired theology of the body, linked to themes like resurrection, sacramental character and sacrifice can be critical for a culture that stresses perfection. The author examines the importance of recognising the vulnerability of the human body and the consequences this can have. The ambiguous experience of a vulnerable but resilient body can spotlight the transcendent. The article also reflects on the way couples can experience restrictions and challenges related to reduced fertility and on suitable pastoral guidance for those in this situation. |
