In so doing, this inquiry employs the critiques John Caputo has levied against Westphal’s thinking in order to reveal that Westphal’s philosophy is deeply eschatological and can be better read as a fundamental theology. As a fundamental theology, Westphal’s work also reveals itself to have important pastoral implications for a Protestant faith which can lead to stronger dialogue to Catholic systematic theology, particularly on issues such as pneumatology and soteriology. |
