Document Details : Title: Enhancing Relational Spirituality Subtitle: Dialogos Philosophical Dialogues as an Approach to Intercultural and Interfaith Dialogue in Education Author(s): HELSKOG, Guro Hansen , STOKKE, Christian Journal: Studies in Interreligious Dialogue Volume: 24 Issue: 2 Date: 2014 Pages: 202-220 DOI: 10.2143/SID.24.2.3073527 Abstract : This paper discusses the Dialogos approach to facilitating philosophical dialogues, and compares this to different forms, levels and contexts of interreligious dialogue. While the Dialogos approach to philosophical dialogue was developed as a pedagogical approach to practical philosophy that aims at promoting human maturity and wisdom, it can also be seen as a way to facilitate interreligious dialogue in education. We analyze empirical material from three selected dialogues facilitated by Guro Hansen Helskog in a Norwegian upper secondary school context, in the light of the different forms or levels of interreligious dialogue discussed by Oddbjørn Leirvik and Notto R. Thelle. We also discuss the specific characteristics of philosophical dialogue in an educational context in relation and contrast to interreligious dialogue among persons of various religious and secular life-stances in Norwegian society at large. |
