An enormous amount of letters have remained in which he gave spiritual guidance to many like-minded friends. Also in the Netherlands he had admirers. This article researches Tersteegen’s correspondence with a Dutch friend, Adriaan Pauw. How does Tersteegen give shape to important elements of mystagogy, and how does he use mystical visions that are surprisingly common among Roman Catholic, especially Quietistic circles, and Reformed Pietistic groups in Germany and the Netherlands? |
