Document Details : Title: A Formula for Peace? Author(s): SENDER, Anne , JENSSEN, Jens Oscar Journal: Studies in Interreligious Dialogue Volume: 24 Issue: 1 Date: 2014 Pages: 119-128 DOI: 10.2143/SID.24.1.3040786 Abstract : The purpose of this article is to identify how interfaith dialogue might have contributed to a low conflict level between faith and life stance communities in Norwegian society. Anne Sender, former head of The Jewish Community in Norway, relates the story of how the dialogue was established at a crucial historical moment, and finally institutionalized as The Council for Religious and Life Stance Communities in 1996. To make the 'formula for peace' applicable to other pluralistic contexts, the authors deduce 9 general points that have come to characterize the successful Norwegian model for faith and life stance dialogue. |
