Because of its apparently contradicting the more common principles of rationality (nothing comes out of nothing, nothing gets lost, nothing gets created, everything gets transformed, etc.), creation out of nothing will not be accepted except eventually as a metaphoric account for the feeling of absolute dependence upon a supernatural being. Despite its compromising neighborhood with the productive schemes of classical onto-theology, or even with pseudo-scientific creationism, we intend to argue that, far from being an irrational tenet, the concept of creation out of nothing deserves a rational treatment. In this paper we are focusing on the logical coherence of the concept of creation out of nothing. |
