Document Details : Title: Nubian Lexicon in Later Egyptian Author(s): TAKÁCS, Gábor Journal: Bibliotheca Orientalis Volume: 70 Issue: 5-6 Date: 2013 Pages: 569-582 DOI: 10.2143/BIOR.70.5.3013232 Abstract : The paper is to examine throughout many details to what degree the author of the book under review managed to cope with and fulfil the unquestionable tasks of a compendium of this kind. Namely, how careful the elaboration of the relevant philological and etymological literature on the Later Egyptian words of supposed 'Nubian' (Cushite, Meroitic) origins was as well as to what extent the lexicons (and the most recent lexicographical literature) of the potential neigbouring African source languages were considered for an ingenious etymological analysis. |
