Document Details : Title: Arnhem and the Tauler Revival Subtitle: New Evidence Concerning a Second Manuscript from the St. Agnes Convent in Arnhem Containing Johannes Tauler's Von eym waren Euangelischen leben Author(s): POLZER, Markus Journal: Ons Geestelijk Erf Volume: 84 Issue: 1 Date: Maart 2013 Pages: 55-73 DOI: 10.2143/OGE.84.1.2975523 Abstract : Two Middle Dutch manuscripts (Berlin State Library SBB-PK mgf 242/243, and Historical Archive of the City of Cologne W* 329) are currently known that contain a complete translation of the 1543 Cologne Tauler print Von eym waren Euangelischen leben. Whereas SBB-PK mgf 242/243 was linked to the library of the St. Agnes convent in Arnhem some time ago, the origins of W* 329 have remained unclear until now. In my article I give paratextual and codicological proof (insofar as possible due to the unavailability of the original manuscript at the Historical Archive of the City of Cologne) that W* 329 not only shares a direct connection to the origins of SBB-PK mgf 242/243, but was indeed produced at the St. Agnes convent in Arnhem as well. |
