Document Details : Title: Roland Barthes' semiologische lezing van Sade Subtitle: Sadisme als formalisme Author(s): LAUWAERT, Lode Journal: Tijdschrift voor Filosofie Volume: 74 Issue: 3 Date: 2012 Pages: 425-459 DOI: 10.2143/TVF.74.3.2174104 Abstract : In his essays on Marquis de Sade, the French philosopher Roland Barthes pays attention to the literary characteristics of Sade’s prose, sadean eroticism and sadean society. The author clarifies Barthes’ interpretation of these aspects and argues that Barthes conceives a link between Sade’s literature, eroticism and society. It is argued that these aspects, according to Barthes, share the emptiness of their form. |
