Document Details : Title: Multiple Attestation? Subtitle: Two Passages in John P. Meier's A Marginal Jew Author(s): LAMBRECHT, Jan Journal: Ephemerides Theologicae Lovanienses Volume: 87 Issue: 1 Date: 2011 Pages: 189-200 DOI: 10.2143/ETL.87.1.2122233 Abstract : This article comes to the conclusion that Mark has used Q for his version of Jesus’ teaching on divorce and for that of Jesus’ double command of love. One cannot separately refer, as John P. Meier does, to Mark and Q in assuming that both pericopes enjoy multiple attestation. There is no need to postulate for them pre-Markan (oral) traditions which are independent of Q. Moreover, Mark’s editing of Q should be carefully analyzed. |
