Partie I Author(s): BONMARIAGE, Cécile , MOUREAU, Sébastien Journal: Le Muséon Volume: 124 Issue: 1-2 Date: 2011 Pages: 181-227 DOI: 10.2143/MUS.124.1.2118194 Abstract : This article offers an analysis of the linguistic characteristics of the Arabic version of the Corpus Dionysiacum produced by Ibn Saḥqūq of Emesa in 1009, based on our edition of the Divine Names, chapter 4 (§1-9) presented in the second part of this article entitled Corpus Dionysiacum Arabicum: étude, édition critique et traduction des Noms Divins IV, §1-9, Partie II. A brief description of the translation techniques used by the translator is followed by the examination of various difficulties and misunderstandings of Ibn Saḥqūq in rendering into Arabic the syntax and the lexicography of the Greek language. A selective Greek-Arabic and Arabic-Greek lexicon of the text of our edition completes our analysis. |
