Document Details : Title: Comparing and Converging Terms in the Byzantine and Pratyabhijna Traditions Author(s): BAMFORD, Desmond Nicholas Journal: Studies in Interreligious Dialogue Volume: 20 Issue: 2 Date: 2010 Pages: 194-216 DOI: 10.2143/SID.20.2.2058667 Abstract : This article considers the place for the development of a new model of person by the comparing and converging of terms and ideas within the Byzantine and Pratyabhijna (of Kashmir Shaivism) traditions, also in order to help bring Byzantine theology into the interreligious debate. By converging ideas from both traditions the article offers an alternative way of ‘doing’ Byzantine theology in order to evolve the term hypostasis through the inclusion of the notion of Atman into the Byzantine model and to answer contemporary existentialist interpretations of hypostasis. |
