Document Details : Title: Bone Reliefs from Fire Temple at Mele Hairam, South-West Turkmenistan Author(s): KAIM, Barbara Journal: Iranica Antiqua Volume: 45 Date: 2010 Pages: 321-335 DOI: 10.2143/IA.45.0.2047124 Abstract : The last season of excavations of the fire temple ruins at Mele Hairam yielded several bone objects decorated in relief. Although it is by no means possible to precisely determine their manufacturing place, there are reasonable grounds to suppose that they may be assigned to an eastern Iranian workshop. If this hypothesis is correct, herein discussed bone reliefs as examples of art objects reinforce the importance of eastern Iran as a region where local artistic ideas were mixed with these coming from the West and South. |
