Document Details : Title: Muslimische Frauen in Deutschland Subtitle: Zwischen Viktimisierung, Kriminalisierung, Rechtfertigung und Selbstbehaupting Author(s): ÇAKIR, Naime Journal: Journal of the European Society of Women in Theological Research Volume: 17 Date: 2009 Pages: 183-194 DOI: 10.2143/ESWTR.17.0.2042668 Abstract : This description of the situation in which Muslim women with emancipatory feminist views live in the public context which they claim for themselves reveals their almost insoluble dilemma. In the course of their efforts at emancipation, specific roles are assigned to them from different sides. On the one hand, that of victims oppressed by patriarchal forces, or of activists inspired by fundamentalist Islamic interests. On the other hand, the orthodox religious approach tends to suspect that these self-confident women are Muslima who have departed from the true faith and been seduced by western ideologies hostile to religion. |
