Document Details : Title: L'interrègne arménien Subtitle: Esquisse préliminaire Author(s): GARSOÏAN, Nina Journal: Le Muséon Volume: 122 Issue: 1-2 Date: 2009 Pages: 81-92 DOI: 10.2143/MUS.122.1.2037152 Abstract : Armenian medieval history has usually been studied from a primarily political point of view giving short shrift to the intervening periods, when the country was dominated by its more powerful neighbours. This approach has necessarily produced disconnected and fragmentary results. On the contrary, a study of the 6th to 8th centuries Interregnum, frequently disregarded or neglected by medievalists, appears to identify it as a significant period during which were set and consolidated the constants that allowed the Armenians to survive over the centuries as a nation without a state. |
