Document Details : Title: The Achievements and Challenges of Mary, Grace and Hope in Christ Author(s): LEAHY, Brendan Journal: Louvain Studies Volume: 33 Issue: 1-2 Date: 2008 Pages: 117-135 DOI: 10.2143/LS.33.1.2034340 Abstract : This article assesses the achievements and challenges of the Seattle Statement Mary, Grace and Hope in Christ (2004), published by the Anglican-Roman Catholic International Commission (ARCIC). It presents a brief overview of recent ecumenical dialogue concerning Marian doctrine and situates the Seattle Statement within the history and terms of reference of ARCIC. The article considers three challenges that reception of this Statement entails, namely, re-reception of Marian doctrine, further reflection on implicit Trinitarian perspectives and rediscovery of the Church’s Marian Principle. |
